Farmer Nappy Wins Soca Monarch 2021

Farmer Nappy wins the Soca Monarch 2021 competition with an accomplished performance of his hit song, Backyard Jam.

On Fantastic Friday, 12th February 2021 the rebranded International Soca Monarch event entitled The Monarch took place at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) in Trinidad & Tobago.

Very much in keeping with the new normal, the competition took place virtually and was streamed online with the eleven competitors performing without a live audience.

In addition to winning the Soca Monarch 2021 crown, Farmer Nappy also walked away with the first prize of 150,000 TTD (Approximately £16,000).

The runners up of the competition were Olatunji in second place with his performance of Drunk History and in third place came Viking Ding Dong and Mical Teja. Their performance of the song “Hornin’ First” addressed the recent murder of Andrea Bharatt, swapping out the words “I hornin’ first” and substituting them with “Put women first.”
