NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL 2021 CANCELLATION

On 18th June 2021 the cancellation of Notting Hill Carnival 2021 was announced by the event organisers, Notting Hill Carnival Ltd.

In light of this, the theme “Africa – The Journey” will now be presented at Notting Hill Carnival 2022.

What are my options?

For all existing UCOM Carnival and Associates masqueraders including Onyx Mas, Wassiville, One Paradise / Shades Worldwide and Socaholic UK, additionally all Fun Mas and Jouvert packages:

  1. Your order is automatically rolled over to Notting Hill Carnival 2022 and final payments will be due no later than 1st March 2022.
  2. If you would like to sell your costume, we would facilitate that for you by listing your costume for sale on our website. If it is sold via our website we will then transfer the funds you have paid back to you.

A statement on behalf of the board of Notting Hill Carnival Ltd.

After lengthy consultations with our strategic partners, our Advisory Council and individual participating bands and sound systems, the board of Notting Hill Carnival Ltd, the organising body of Notting Hill Carnival, has decided that this year’s Carnival will not be on the streets due to the ongoing uncertainty and risk COVID-19 poses.

This has been an incredibly difficult decision to make. Everyone involved in the event desperately wants a return to the road where Carnival belongs but safety has to come first and with the latest cautious announcement on the government’s ‘roadmap’, this is the only way to ensure that.

In making this decision, we have considered our responsibilities to deliver a safe, spectacular, successful and sustainable Carnival. The conclusion is that with so much uncertainty, with time short for Carnivalists to prepare and the risk of eventual cancellation a real possibility, we must refocus our efforts for 2021.

As in 2020, we are working towards alternate events that will allow everyone to safely celebrate everything Notting Hill Carnival stands for. More details on all of this, as well as special events leading into the August bank holiday weekend will be announced in due course.

Going forward, we will be working with Carnivalists toward the greatest ever Notting Hill Carnival for 2022.

Is there are a minimum age ?

Yes. All participants must be aged 18+ and photo ID will be required.

How do I make further costume payments ?

After you have paid your deposit, you can pay the remaining balance via the further payments page in our shop.

When is my payment deadline ?

As of 30th May 2021 we have not yet received confirmation that Notting Hill Carnival 2021 (NHC 2021) will take place, as a result we have reviewed our payment schedule and the new deadlines are as follows:

  • The event organisers, Notting Hill Carnival Ltd are expected to announce a decision on whether or not NHC 2021 will take place on or shortly after 15th June 2021.
  • In anticipation of a positive announcement regarding NHC 2021 and to allow us sufficient time to complete the production of costumes, the deadline for balances to be paid in full is now Wednesday, 16th June 2021.
  • For details of the amount you will need to pay by the stated deadline, please contact us by email at info@socaholic.com
  • Should NHC 2021 not go ahead then the theme will rollover again to 2022 and the deadline for balances to be paid in full will be 1st March 2022.

Can I change my order ?

We will accept amendments to sizes only and any changes must be submitted no later than 28th February 2021.

After this date it will not be possible to make any further modifications to your order.

Can I cancel my order ?​

You can cancel your order at any time, although your deposit is non-refundable.

If you have paid more than your deposit and add-ons then you will be refunded the further payments, only if cancelled before 31st March 2020.

After this time absolutely no refunds will be issued.

Can I sell my costume to another masquerader ?

Yes. Costumes can be sold on to another masquerader but only under the following conditions.

All sizes and options on the original order will be transferred and cannot be changed or amended, the costume must be sold as seen.

You must send an email to info@socaholic.com forwarding to us your order confirmation and providing the name and contact details of the person that has purchased the costume.

We will then contact you and the purchaser of the costume to confirm and complete the transfer of the order.

When do I collect my costume ?

The costume distribution schedule will be emailed to all masqueraders and published across our social media channels and website.

After the final distribution date, any uncollected costumes will be resold without further notice.

At this time deposits and all further payments are non-refundable.

How do I collect my costume ?

Your costume will be collected from the UCOM Carnival Mas Camp, located at 13a Heybridge Way, London E10 7NQ.

Please ensure that your order has been paid for in full before attending distribution as otherwise you will not be able to collect your package.

Make sure that you have received your Paid In Full Confirmation from us by 14th August 2021. If you do not have this then please contact us immediately. You will not be able to collect your costume without this.

Your costume can be collected on your designated day or any distribution day thereafter, however priority will be given to those collecting on their assigned days. Please try to collect on you assigned day to ease congestion and wait times.

Please have your original, valid Photo ID and Paid In Full Confirmation ready when get to the front of the queue as this will help to speed up the process. You will not be able to collect your package without an original, valid form of photo identification.

Without any of the above documentation, we will not be able to release your costume.

Can someone else collect my costume for me ?

Costume packages must be collected by the person named in the order or by a confirmed designated representative only.

If your costume is being collected on your behalf by a confirmed designated representative then they will be required to present the following:

  • A signed letter from you stating that the designated person may collect your costume, this must be a paper document.
  • A copy of your Paid In Full Confirmation, this can be a paper or digital document.
  • A copy of your valid photo ID, this can be a paper or digital document.

Without any of the above documentation, we will not be able to release your costume.

Please read our terms of purchase carefully before registering your interest with Socaholic. By registering with Socaholic you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. If you do not accept these terms and conditions then you may not participate at Notting Hill Carnival with Socaholic. In these terms “we”, “us”, “our” or Socaholic and “you” and “your” refers to you as a participant at Notting Hill Carnival with Socaholic. We may modify these terms, for any reason at any time, by posting a new version on our website; these changes do not affect rights and obligations that arose prior to such changes. Your continued use of our website or any of our goods or services following the posting of modified terms will be subject to the terms in effect at the time of your use. Please review these terms periodically for changes. If you object to any provision of these terms or any subsequent modifications to these terms or become dissatisfied with our website, goods or services in any way, your only recourse is to immediately terminate use of our website, goods or services.
